Achieving the EN 1865 standard indicates that, amongst other specifications, the stretcher has passed tests for resistance to deformation and distortion from a 250 kilos load and that the trolley has passed, with the same 250 kilos load, transit tests on uneven surfaces and the head on collision of one of the wheels against a rigid object.
Compliance with the EN 1865 standard also implies that EN 1789 standard has been fulfilled, so a test a “10G” force while the stretcher is loaded with a 75 kilos dummy has been passed, the stretcher has to remain anchored while subject to a force of around 1260 kilos forward, backwards, upwards and diagonally. This means that in case of sudden acceleration or an accident the stretcher and the patient are not catapulted out causing physical injury.
