It all started with Mari… She kept talking about the Ambulancia del Deseo Foundation and how proud she was that KARTSANA stretchers could also fulfil the wishes of people with very advanced disease. Mari is one of the pillars of the origins of KARTSANA, who together with her husband Modesto Luengo, founded the company.
Finally, we got down to work and went to visit the Ambulancia del Deseo Foundation to see first-hand the work they do and to be able to collaborate with them.
For those of you who don’t know them, the Ambulancia del Deseo Foundation is a non-profit organisation dedicated to making the wishes of people with advanced or terminal illnesses come true. They have two ambulances equipped to transport patients to special places that allow them to enjoy unique experiences. Of course, these ambulances are equipped with KARTSANA’s POWER BRAVA electric stretchers.
The initial objective of the visit was to make preventive maintenance of the stretchers, so we were accompanied by our technician Daniel Perez, who did an excellent job making the stretchers as good as new. But the visit went beyond that, we were impressed by the dedication and affection that is breathed in every corner of the foundation and by the importance for the patients to be able to fulfil their wishes.
The whole team of Ambulancia del deseo was attentive to our needs and we were able to take a ride in one of the ambulances that has fulfilled so many wishes. Our special thanks go to Miguel Ángel Carrasco, Emergency Technician who dedicates the little time he has left to the foundation, the inspiring Virginia with her great vitality, Carolina Cánovas and José Manuel Salas who made this initiative a reality, and Miguel Ángel Garrido, the most involved volunteer we have ever met.
This visit is just the beginning of a close collaboration between KARTSANA and the Ambulancia del Deseo Foundation. They have shown us how they can contribute to the wellbeing of society beyond a commercial activity.
