A bariatric stretcher allows the transport of voluminous patients in ambulances and hospitals. They are stretchers adapted and designed to support 300 kg of weight. Its name comes from the term bariatric, its root being the Greek “bari” which means “weight”.
Currently, most ambulance bariatric stretchers are electric, allowing the Emergency Medical Technician to lift and move the stretcher without effort or risk of injury while transporting an overweight patient. In addition, the stretcher is accompanied by a telescopic rail able to support the same load capacity, which is anchored to the ambulance, also adapted for this purpose.
Transfers of special care
Patients with greater volume and weight or bariatric patients require special attention, it is important to ensure the safety and stability of the transfer as well as their comfort.
The bariatric stretcher can be a single unit or a widening accessory can be fitted to stretchers up to 300 kg. Bariatric stretchers take up more space in the ambulance, so the last option is more flexible, as the stretcher can be used in both standard and bariatric versions.
The KARTSANA bariatric stretcher
KARTSANA has two types of accessories or bariatric kits for its stretchers:
The CLICK bariatric kit
This is a side widening accessory that consists of a system that allows instant installation, anchoring the axes of the kit in pre-installed fasteners on the stretcher. It has 2 versions for the POWER BRAVA TG-1000 and for the Jupiter TG-880C2 and C4 series.
Bariatric Kit
It consists of a widening accessory that is placed on the patient’s surface by means of a system of guides to be fitted into positioners that secure the installation. Like the CLICK system, this bariatric kit has options for the POWER BRAVA TG-1000 and Jupiter TG-880C2 and C4 stretchers.
